Wednesday, March 26 th, Sheriff Paul Laney announced the results of a unique fundraiser by presenting United Way of Cass-Clay with a check for $1,250.00.
After Sheriff Paul Laney received national attention from his staged sting operation resulting in more than 40 arrests, he decided to turn it into something positive for the Cass-Clay community.
The Cass County Sheriff’s department sent out 500 invitations to a mock pre-concert party to people with outstanding warrants. These warrants ranged from not paying parking tickets to drug charges. At the mock party, police officers wore “security” T-shirts that featured festive imagery. The Sheriff’s Department received calls from people all over the nation wanting to purchase one of the T-shirts. Sheriff Laney felt this was a perfect opportunity to better his community and decided to sell the T-shirts and give the proceeds to United Way of Cass-Clay.
The Sheriff’s department has already sold 240 T-shirts and is still selling them. If you would like to purchase a T-shirt please call 701.241.5800.
